Realtors Invade
One of the first homes that I ever listed (about 20 years ago) was in the Burnwood community in Millwoods. It was a cute little home that looked like every other home on that street. There was nothing special about it but my clients kept good very good care of the property and kept it really clean. I listed it late one evening when it was especially dark out.
We were all pretty excited and I managed to get to the office early enough in the morning to get it added to the caravan (a little ritual some real estate offices go through to show the other people in their office their new listings).
As we all pulled up I ran up to the door and to find what should have been my first clue that something wasn’t quite right; the key was not working properly. Fortunately the door was open, and I figured them must have realized that they had given me the wrong key and left the door open for us. I quickly stood aside while everyone from my office trudged through.
After the last person went in I followed behind and was really disappointed to find the property in a less then presentable state. Then it became clear that we were in the wrong home. In what must have been a reader’s digest moment I bolted upstairs to apologize when one of the sales people told me the seller was still upstairs in bed.
Shocked, she asked me what was going on. Fortunately I think she had been partying hard the night before and the thought of screaming would’ve just hurt. I told her what must have happened while I was so red in the face that I think Santa almost kicked Rudolph off the team in favor of using me. She was awesome and I’ve often wondered how her version of the story goes
